I signed a contract today.
Not to sell a house or buy a car. Not a marriage certificate. Not a vacation rental or an insurance policy or for new employment. Not even a baseball contract; though I've heard my Dodgers need someone to find a 3rd out against the Red Sox.
No - not any of the "normal" contracts of every day comfortable American life - today, I signed an Adoption Services Contract to pursue an international adoption from Brazil.
My wife, Erica, and I have discussed adoption regularly during our 10+ years of being married. God has blessed us with 3 biological kids already. We have always felt that someday, in His time, we would be called to walk the road of adoption and to open our home and our hearts to more of His children.
The time is now and we have taken the first steps down that road.
We are nervous. Excited. Anxious. Eager. Delighted. Skeptical. Mostly though, I feel the perfect peace of knowing that we are obeying God's call.
So, what does that mean? Where are we at? How does this work and what happens next?
Over course of the next year (or two, or three, or longer ...) I am going to be posting updates and thoughts and information to this Blog and to our Facebook pages and through e-mails and newsletters and face-to-face with anyone who will listen.
We want to share our hearts with you through this journey. We will need you to partner with us in prayer and in financial support along the way.
Right now though, I just want you to know that we are deeply happy and filled with joy at the prospect of parenting another of God's Children.

Children are a gift from the Lord; a blessing from Him! ~ Psalm 127:3
